Dr. John Wallin is the Director of MTSU’s Computational and Data Science Ph.D. program. He is also an Astronomy professor.

Why they chose to pursue data science: Astronomy was the first data science. My interests evolved as technology improved.
One piece of advice for data science students: Working hard is more important than “being smart.”
Hobbies outside of work: I love woodworking, travel, and cats.
Fun Fact: I have an asteroid named after me – 66661 -Wallin. Its orbit is tilted out of the plane of the solar system, and it is a bit eccentric. It seems like a good fit.
